1. CHM and IHPI Co-Sponsor “Vested Interests” Conference

    The Center for the History of Medicine and the U-M Institute for Healthcare Policy & Innovation are proud to co-sponsor an upcoming two-day conference, “Vested Interests: Who Really Influences American Medicine, Public Health, and Health Policy?”  The conference will be held Thursday, October 1 and Friday, October 2 at the Rackham Graduate School on the campus of the University of Michigan.

    The October 1 event is free and open to the public and will feature a keynote address by Dr. Richard Besser, Chief Health and Medical Editor for ABC News, as well as panel discussion on the Affordable Care Act of 2010, moderated by The Huffington Post’s senior national correspondent Jonathan Cohn.  A reception will follow.

    The October 2 event is free by RSVP and will feature discussions by leading scholars on the pharmaceutical industry, food production, environmental health, and conflicts of interest in academic medicine.
